Compare it with China, and find out how much life is left in that region. Not very long.
The Chinese are not more intelligent that the Indians. Indians are doing very well abroad, and are just as intelligent, or more, then the Chinese. However, The Chinese leadership is better than the Indian political leadership
Earlier, China maintained policies that kept the economy very poor, stagnant, centrally controlled, vastly inefficient, and relatively isolated from the global economy. China has been among the world’s fastest-growing economies, a pace described by the World Bank as “the fastest sustained expansion by a major economy in history.” Such growth has enabled China, on average, to double its GDP every eight years and helped raise an estimated 800 million people out of poverty. China has become the world’s largest economy (on a purchasing power parity basis), manufacturer, merchandise trader, and holder of foreign exchange reserves. China is the largest U.S. merchandise trading partner, biggest source of imports, and third-largest U.S. export market. China is also the largest foreign holder of U.S. Treasury securities, which help fund the federal debt and keep U.S. interest rates low.
My son used to tell me when he used to do MS in the US about the difference between Indian Students and the Chinese students
The Chinese spend all their time in understanding the fundamentals. Without understanding the basic fundamentals, they dont take the next step. They are much slower in the beginning and take a long time to understand the very basics of any principle, and then slowly they evolve their understanding.
Once they have done so - any way any question is twisted - they can handle it because they understand the underlying concept.
That is why they are so good in Engineering especially in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Meanwhile the Indians would rather spend time to work out the basics and practice more questions and work harder. The Average Indian would prefer solving problems and learning from the solutions and evolving their understanding
This means they cannot handle u turn s in questions and falter
However this also means they are pretty good when it comes to Business Studies or MBA or Business management which is all about evolving on the spot and learning through similar solutions
The Ideal company would be one where the Research work was done by the Chinese and the Marketing and Business Strategy done by the Indians. It would mint money.
No and I don't think there has ever been a proper comparitive study to conclude thus. One can always share anecdotes to prove either the Chinese or the Indians more intelligent but that cannot be considered as a scientific claim.
India cannot compete with China. It is not even fair to compare a vibrant democracy like India with the communist regime of China. But whatever India has achieved is not at the cost of blood and tears of it's people. They are developing at a slower pace.
If you ask me, I would surely prefer living in India than China. ‘Lean freedom is better than fat slavery!'
National IQ level does play a big role in how fast and how far a nation can develop, especially in the 21st century where a nation needs to develop advanced technology in order to develop economically. India does not have a shortage of very intelligent people, it has very high quality human capital from the forward caste populations that provides most of the brain power for India’s space and nuclear program. The problem with India is the average IQ as you point out is not very high, 82 to be specific. An 82 IQ is in the 15th percentile for Whites or Mongoloids. A nation with an 82 average IQ will have difficulty developing a successful advanced manufacturing economy, which is what we have seen with India. Indian leaders should focus on raising mean IQ levels by utilizing genetic and environmental enhancement technologies.
Every country has a mix of Intelligent and Average people. How the leadership mobilizes the available resources alongside the varied national limitations and situations determines the prosperity and fate of the country.
China is developing faster than India because the amount of Nepotism and Corruption is relatively lesser. While bright Indians generally go abroad for exhibiting their Talents, Chinese government provides them with ample opportunities within China itself. Hence they excel faster than us.
