China economy rebounds in Q2 after virus hit: AFP poll
China returned to growth in the second quarter after the coronavirus pandemic handed the world's second largest economy its first contraction in decades, according to an AFP poll of analysts.
The survey of analysts from 11 institutions pegged China's growth at 1.3 percent -- a far cry from the 6.1 percent expansion posted last year but in better shape than other countries still grappling with the contagion.
But analysts forecast China will be the only major economy to experience positive growth this year -- partly because it was first to be hit by COVID-19 and therefore first to recover.
China is expected to post 1.7 percent growth for the full year, according to the economists surveyed by AFP, compared with IMF forecasts of a global contraction.
Growth data for the April to June period will be published on Thursday.

China needs over 6% growth to sustain its economy. This does show that their response to covid had positive results. Unfortunately my county has handled the situation terribly! You can't argue that people. AMERICANS Wake up pony up wear masks social distance avoid crowds and we can overcome this and move on.
Culture difference. The East Asian countries, like China (includingTaiwan), Japan, Korea, Vietnam. They all have handled the Covid pandemic much better than US and Europe. The all have the Traditional Confucianism in their people's mind.
US already lost to China. US can ban China all it wants but China is world economy that is leading the world. Don't need US for anything
On the other hand, US is looking towards instability, gloom and doom into 2021. But it wouldn't give up its dreams to destroy China, economically and politically.
China recovered in just 4 months. But the rest of the would will take 7 to 8 months to recover although they were given enough time to do something before it happened.
The US is upset...
